Reduce your full birth date to a single digit (stopping at the master numbers 11, 22, or 33). That number points to one Major Arcana card — your birth card. It names a lifelong theme: your core gift and your recurring lesson. It does not change, and it does not predict anything.
Of all the ways tarot and numerology overlap, the birth card is the cleanest. You don’t need a deck, a spread, or a reader. You need your date of birth and about a minute of adding. What comes out is a single Major Arcana card that, in this tradition, is yours for life.
How it’s calculated
The birth card comes from your Life Path number — the same figure numerology pulls from a full date of birth. Reduce the day, the month, and the year each to a single digit, add the three results, then reduce once more. The one twist: if you land on 11, 22, or 33 along the way, you stop. Numerology treats those as master numbers and doesn’t collapse them further.
Worked example — born 14 June 1990
Day: 1 + 4 = 5. Month: June = 6. Year: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1.

Which number gives which card
Life Paths 1 through 9 map straight onto the first nine trumps, in order. The three master numbers take the cards that share their digits.

Birth card, soul card, personality card — what’s the difference?
These three terms get used interchangeably, and it causes a lot of confusion. Here’s the honest version: different teachers use different labels for slightly different arithmetic. What our calculator gives you is a birth card — the Major Arcana archetype tied to your Life Path, fixed for life.
A personality card comes from a method that sums the date without reducing the year first, and often lands on a trump numbered 10 to 21. The soul card is usually that personality card reduced one more step. If another site gives you a different card than we do, it almost certainly used a different method — not a wrong one.
What it’s actually good for
A birth card is not a forecast. It doesn’t tell you what will happen. It describes the lesson your chart keeps handing back to you. Someone with The Hermit keeps meeting the same question about solitude and discernment at every stage of life. Someone with The Chariot keeps meeting the question of control and direction. The card names the pattern; what you do with it is yours.

Common questions
Does my birth card ever change?
No. It comes from a date that doesn’t change, so it stays fixed for life. What changes is your relationship to it.
What if I don’t know my exact birth time?
It doesn’t matter. Unlike an astrological chart, this uses only the calendar date — day, month, and year.
I got a card I don’t like. Now what?
The unpopular trumps — The Hermit, Justice, Strength — are usually the most useful birth cards to have. Strength isn’t about force, and Justice isn’t about punishment. Both describe a long apprenticeship in something difficult and worthwhile.
How does this relate to my Life Path number?
