Your Tarot Birth Card: Lumina's Calculation Explained
This site calculates a Life Path number from your date of birth, then maps it to a Major Arcana card. The result is a symbolic reflection prompt. It is not a measurement of personality or a prediction of your life.
The calculation used by this calculator
- Reduce the day by adding its digits repeatedly. Stop at a single digit or at 11, 22 or 33.
- Do the same for the month and year separately.
- Add those three reduced values.
- Reduce the total using the same stopping rule.
- Look up the resulting number in the mapping below.
Worked example: 14 June 1990
Day: 14 → 1 + 4 = 5. Month: June = 6. Year: 1990 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1.
Add the results: 5 + 6 + 1 = 12 → 1 + 2 = 3. Lumina's mapping assigns Life Path 3 to The Empress.
The mapping is a site convention
Birth-card traditions vary. Some use different date arithmetic or return a pair of cards. Lumina's calculator uses the mapping below; a different method can therefore produce a different result for the same date. In particular, 22 → The Fool and 33 → The World are mapping choices here. The number 33 does not reduce arithmetically to 21, and this mapping is not presented as a universal Rider–Waite–Smith rule.

What can you do with the result?
Choose one feature of the card and relate it to a current situation. With The Empress, for example, ask what you are nurturing and what conditions help it develop. Then name an action you can try and a way to observe its effect. You do not need to accept the card as a permanent description of who you are.
If the result feels unfamiliar, use that response as another question: which part fits, which part does not, and what experience are you using to decide? The card cannot determine your abilities, health, relationships or future. A date-derived card is also different from a card drawn for a particular question.
Master numbers and card numbers
The calculator preserves 11, 22 and 33 during reduction because that is the numerology convention it uses. A Life Path number and the numeral printed on a tarot card are separate values. Life Path 11 maps to Justice, numbered XI in this deck; Life Path 22 maps to The Fool, numbered 0; and Life Path 33 maps to The World, numbered XXI. No additional prediction follows from a master-number result.
